Nan and I returned to Austin for another half marathon. Well, she sort of lives there, so I returned.
We hung out at the Westin, two blocks east of the starting line.
Yet another sister, Sandy, and my niece Brook, and my brother Steve all participated. They walked the 5K.

Nan and I posed with the Rite Flyers around mile 10 because they sounded so good. That’s Steve Collier gripping the Fender Jaguar.

Just one big hill remained after crossing Lamar. Ask Nan about that hill.
It was all downhill on Colorado, west of the Capitol.

We finished together, holding our hands high.

I’ve been wondering what you’ve been up to. This looks so fun! I did the Capitol 10k in 2007 and wouldn’t mind doing it again someday (despite swearing to never run that far again)

Congrats to you all! So, you got your sister to promote your first book, but you wore Writer’s Black? Ah, maintenant tu es un auteur confirmé.

you’re nothing if you don’t self promote.

“you’re nothing if you don’t self-promote.” This is very deep, and I think a worthy topic of a future blog post. Sort of a “to be, or not to be. That is the question” sort of post. But what do I know? I don’t think I self-promote, but only because I have no product to offer besides myself. And now you make me doubt my existence, Edward. I’ve always believed I existed, but now you make me wonder. Edward, I think I need a beer. If you don’t hear from me tomorrow, or ever afterward, know that it is only because I chose to not self-promote. It is not your fault; you simply opened my eyes. Let my wife know what happened. Where is my opium?

Despite the references to beer and opiates, I suspect this was a wine-induced comment. I’m sure you’ll find yourself still there in the morning, next to your beautiful wife, once its effects have worn off.
